Q&A: Student credit card?

Question by Korey B: Student credit card?
I am looking for a good student credit card to see my through college. Where can I go?

Best answer:

Answer by William S
I’ve linked both a list of student credit cards, and a page about managing your credit. Don’t assume you can only get the student cards, though; as long as you have a good credit rating, you can get good cards even with low income. (I’m a student myself, but none of my cards are student cards, and the limits are decent)

Question by margarito209: credit cards?
is there any credit cards that you qualify for once u turn 18 and dont have any acounts in ur credit history? because im trying to build my credit score… please let me know any store that gives u credit card. thanks!!!

Best answer:

Answer by Jeremy P
I would recommend avoiding ‘store’ credit cards altogether. They usually have extremely high interest rates (23.99%-29.99%) and other hidden fees. You might want to consider a credit card for people with poor / no credit here:

http://www.asapcreditcard.com/unsecured-offers.html

While these offers tend to have higher interest rates and additional fees when compare to ‘standard’ credit cards– you’ll pay much less than a store credit card. Plus, they’ll give you the chance to prove your creditworthiness and improve your credit score.

Eventually… with regular, on-time payments– you’ll be able to apply for better offers with lower APR’s and less fees.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

Q&A: what is the best subprime credit card?

Question by wblueyesinvt35: what is the best subprime credit card?
I have been building my credit and i have an aspen card and a continental card what are other good credit building cards?

Best answer:

Answer by TaxMaven
NONE. Geez, you already tanked your credit & now you want to get more BRAND NEW credit cards to trash?! Come on! Credit has not been a blessing in your life so far. I’m not trying to be mean to you. I’ve been broke before, but I learned my lesson. Consequently, I have not opened a credit account of any kind since 2002. I pay cash for everything (even cars) b/c I live on less than I make & save for big purchases & emergencies. You should try it. My freaking house is almost paid for, & I have so much peace about my finances that it scares all my broke relatives. I use Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover”. At least grab a copy from your local library or bookstore & read it before you go off thinking that you need “good credit” to have a good life.

Establishing credit with no credit or credit card?

Question by Alan: Establishing credit with no credit or credit card?
How would I go about establishing credit with no credit or credit card? I am 21 with no credit or credit card, just a checking/savings account with a debit card. And thats all I want for the rest of my life. I dont spend money unless I have it so I’m not looking into getting a credit card and dealing with all the mess(signing up, extra cards in my wallet, charges, etc). So how can I?
I dont think i can even have my own verizon cellphone plan with no credit unless I put down a huge deposit.

Any help or tips are nice!
Thanks

Credit cards are free to use.
If you pay the bill in full each month, you never pay interest and can easily get amazing scores without ever paying a penny.
Any other way of establishing credit will cost you money.

If you get an answer to get a secured card – remember that this card turns into a credit card.
So if you don’t like credit cards – don’t do it.

Secured loan – best way – but will cost you (vs. a free credit card).
With this loan you deposit $ 1,500 to $ 3,000 into a savings or cd and you make a secured loan against it.
Tell the bank what you are doing upfront, and spend at least one year paying back.

Re-consider getting a credit card.
It’s a 100% free way to get top credit ratings without ever paying a penny.
Just make sure you can pay in full each month.
If you ever carry a balance and pay interest it can easily destroy your credit and your life.
47% of Americans pay in full each month (never paying interest or any type of fee).
They have the top scores – could you be one of them???
